Dawn Sabean presents “My Journey to a UC Diagnosis (2018) and Beyond” at the SCDROCKS Conference 2023, hosted by the Specific Carbohydrate Diet Association (SCDA).
Dawn, a busy wife, mother, and full-time middle school science teacher, shares her personal journey following an Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis in 2018 and how her research into healing her gut led her to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). After beginning the SCD, Dawn experienced a rapid reduction in symptoms, which gave her the energy and motivation to take her health and fitness to the next level.
In July 2022, she competed in her first bodybuilding competition, earning three first-place trophies and a professional bodybuilding certificate, while continuing to follow the Specific Carbohydrate Diet under the guidance of a coach who helped her build muscle and lose fat simultaneously.
Inspired by her transformation, Dawn is now a certified personal trainer teaching fitness classes and working one-on-one with individuals. She recognizes nutrition as a foundational pillar of health and wellness and is currently pursuing further education to become a nutritionist, with the ultimate goal of helping others nourish and heal their bodies through informed, individualized food choices.
