Cathy Malone, MS, RDN, LN

Cathy Malone MS, RDN is a Registered  Dietitian/Nutritionist with over 30 years of experience applying a functional approach to nutrition. She specializes in nutrition therapy for pediatric patients with gastrointestinal problems, but sees adults as well! Her approach is personal and based on the integrative model to remove, replace, reinoculate, repair, and rebalance. That is, remove inflammatory/allergenic foods, replace with wholesome foods, which support the immune system and growth; reinoculate and rebalance the intestinal microbiome with food and supplements and repair the gastrointestinal tract. This method has served her patients well over the years. Cathy has seen how diet change and the use of supplements not only improve digestive function, but growth, behavior, mood and overall health.

At the Center for Pediatric Nutrition and Gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Cathy worked with patients with the following diagnosis’: constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), celiac disease, gluten intolerance, food allergy, poor weight gain/growth, fatty liver, autism, gastroesophageal reflux (GER), picky eaters, feeding difficulties, polycystic ovary disease (PCOS), infant & toddler feeding, eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE), Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. She has extensive experience working with therapeutic diets which include the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, FODMAP, elimination diets, multiple food allergies, Ketogenic diet, and enteral feedings.

Cathy lectures on topics such as inflammatory bowel disease & diet, autism & diet, food allergies/intolerances and appropriate nutrient supplementation.

She recently traveled to China to help implement a nutrition program using the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for patients with Autism.  Cathy no longer works at MassGeneral, but has opened a private practice, Restore To Flourish. To contact her, please click here.
